James T. Morris
Former Executive Director, UN World Food Programme
One Big Thing: Jim Morris served as Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme from 2002–07, directing the world’s largest food aid organization through some of the most acute humanitarian crises of the early 21st century.
- At its peak under Morris, the WFP delivered food assistance to more than 100 million people annually across dozens of countries affected by conflict, drought, and disaster.
- His appointment reflected a longstanding U.S. tradition of nominating Americans to lead the Rome-based agency, given the outsized role of U.S. contributions to global food aid.
- Following his UN service, Morris returned to Indiana as President of Pacers Sports and Entertainment.
