Dr. Nelson Okanya serves as Global Missions President at Center for Serving Leadership. He was born in Migori, Kenya. He completed university and graduate school training in Kenya at Daystar University and Eastern Mennonite Seminary in the United States. Nelson holds a Master of Divinity Degree and a Doctorate in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Nelson pastored a multicultural North American suburban Mennonite church in Lanham MD for 5 years and most recently, served as president of Eastern Mennonite Missions for over seven years. He is passionately committed to cross-cultural engagements, building transformative global partnerships, and developing serving leaders. Nelson is an executive and leadership coach. He is a gifted thought leader and an inspiring keynote speaker.
