Hope for Hoosiers addresses mental health by treating it as part of a broader pathway to stability and flourishing rather than as an isolated issue. The model connects individuals with trauma-informed mental health care and addiction treatment, while also addressing the underlying factors that contribute to mental health challenges, such as social isolation, lack of purpose, and difficulty managing life’s challenges. Through Hope Coaches and the 20-session Building Hope Course, participants develop skills such as emotional regulation, problem-solving, respect, forgiveness, and healthy boundaries, while also being connected to support groups, churches, and other positive communities. The goal is to help people move beyond simply treating a mental health crisis toward developing the relationships, values, skills, and sense of purpose needed for a more hopeful and meaningful life.
