Through its research portfolio in criminal justice, Sagamore has established itself as a leader in offering solutions and identifying “best practices” that may lead to a more just and peaceful society.  Its researchers have explored the difficult crime problems facing communities and examined the roles that local and state governments and community organizations play in working to ensure the safety of all citizens.

Reforming Criminal Justice in Indiana

Pursuant to HEA 1006 (2014), the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute is required annually to gather data and analyze the impact of Indiana’s criminal code reform on local units of government, the Department of Correction, and the judicial center. In early 2015, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute commissioned the Sagamore Institute to conduct the initial report, as well as the second report in 2016.
