Global Leaders for Unity at the Sagamore Institute
When Sagamore was made aware of the Economy of Communion, our leaders were immediately drawn to the Pope’s vision and the business leaders commitment to values-based market success. Sagamore was drawn to Sophia University’s intellectual capital, Consulus’ proven record of executing successful global initiatives, and the vision of our three-continent footprint to advance our servant leadership movement. -Jay Hein, President of Sagamore Institute

What is the fund for?
The Global Leaders for Unity Fund (GLUF) is managed by Sagamore Institute, a 501(c)(3) organization to support the Global Leaders for Unity Executive Course (GLUEC) conducted in Sophia University Institute, Italy. Its aim is to receive funds from donors who would like to provide individual scholarships for suitable candidates to participate in the program. Scholarships will be considered for leaders working in private, public and non-profit sectors who would benefit from learning creative skills to shape new solutions for the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Why Global Leaders for Unity?
The Fourth Industrial Revolution, as it is called by the World Economic Forum, can either prove to be beneficial or catastrophic for humanity unless leaders know how to leverage their influence to bring people together and create new solutions in this increasingly diverse, competitive and changing world.
The need for a more inclusive and sustainable economic model was articulated in the talk that Pope Francis gave to the Economy of Communion business owners and supporters at the Vatican on February 4, 2017. The Pope asked that in addition to sharing profits to build strong economies and communities, businesses must reach out to and embrace the people who receive them. He went on to say we “must not only care for the victims, but build a system where there are fewer victims, where, possibly, there may no longer be any.”
As a response to his call for action to shape a more inclusive and sustainable economy, on the 7th of February 2017 Consulus. a global innovation consultancy firm, signed an agreement with Sophia University Institute to create and implement a leadership program that will train leaders with the skills to develop creative solutions for this new age.
In collaboration with the Sophia University Institute’s Global Studies Center, the intensive course of the program, called the “Global Leaders for Unity Executive Course (GLUEC), will be offered at Sophia, located about 45 minutes from Florence, in the beautiful Tuscany region of Italy. During the this short course in Tuscany, leaders will explore their personal leadership, learn new leadership competencies for the future, gain new skills in relational dynamics, and rethink their personal operating paradigms. Both soft and hard leadership skills will be delivered and practiced.
Senior and emerging leaders from private, public and non-profit sectors from all over the world are invited to participate. And the impact won’t end when the course is complete. We also expect to build a collegial base of leaders who wish to continue to partner and work together to shape a better world.
Sagamore Institute, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, will receive the donations. Sagamore Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization, so donations are tax deductible as provided by law. Funds will be distributed to Sophia University Institute for program scholarships. Audited reports will be available upon request.
