Community Renewal in Bluffton
Bluffton, Indiana, is deploying the Renewing Cities model through a locally led effort to revitalize its historic downtown and riverfront. The Wells County Foundation is serving as the sponsor of a nonprofit land trust that is acquiring and positioning key properties for redevelopment, with strong support from both the County and the City of Bluffton. To date, the effort has secured six properties totaling approximately 70,000 square feet in downtown Bluffton, creating a portfolio of assets that can be strategically redeveloped rather than addressed one building at a time. The community is also developing plans for a broader riverfront district that could include new housing, retail, restaurants, public spaces, and improved connections to the riverfront.
